Collegiate Chapel - May 24, 2017

This morning one of GCA’s very own math teachers, Mrs. Velloney, shared stories of her mission work in Africa in March. She explained that she felt the call to global missions, specifically in Africa, as a young child but never had the opportunity to go. Consequently, she thought she had missed her chance to do mission work. It was not until after her husband had numerous opportunities to do work in Africa that she took the leap of faith to go and be God’s hands and feet in Lesotho. Mrs. Velloney explained to the students how she was able to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ to the Lesotho people, sharing stories and pictures from her trip. She ended her time with the powerful story of the two kingdoms, the light and the dark, reminding everyone of God’s act of creation, the fall of humankind, and God’s redemptive work through His son Jesus Christ. At the end of the service, Mrs. Velloney took the opportunity to pray for one of her colleagues, GCA Math teacher Mr. Thompson, as he trains and prepares his heart and mind to go this summer into that same area in order to minister to the Lesotho people through his gifts as a musician and worship leader.
