I was raised in a Christian home and accepted Christ as my Savior at the age of 10. As a young adult I began to try and allow Jesus to be Lord of my life. This is still a priority in my life. My desire is to guide my students to put Christ first in their lives. I try to set a godly example before them and to use God’s Word as a guide in all situations. I have been at GCA since 1989. I have been married to Michael Turner (who is Associate Pastor /Worship and Music - First Baptist Church, Suffolk) for 38 years. We have two sons, Matthew and Mark, ages 36 and 32. Matthew is a commercial plumber in North Carolina. He and Janelle have a little boy, Mountain. Mark is Student Ministry Pastor at Nansemond River Baptist Church in Suffolk. Mark's wife Whitney is an Event Coordinator for the Business College at William and Mary. Mark and Whitney are also parents of our grandson, Jackson and granddaughter, Abigail! I pray that God will use your children to enrich your life as much as He has used mine to enrich my life.

"So Walk In Him"

Walking in Him means I will put Him first.

Jesus replied, "What is impossible with man is possible with God." - Luke 18:27 (NIV)

Kids with Character

Thriftiness – allowing myself and others to spend only what is necessary.

I will:

  • save more spend less
  • make good use of what I already have
  • look for the best value
  • budget my money, time, and energy
  • not confuse what I need with what I want

Nolan Swogger has made the 100 point AR club! Way to go Nolan!

1A has started the First Grade Shoe Tiers Club.
To be a member one must be able to tie his/her shoe and have it stay tied for at least the morning or afternoon.  Once they pass the test, I will buy them ice cream and put a decorated shoe in the hall for all to see.  I hope everyone will want to be a member!!
