The month of October was Missions Month for 1st-6th grade students. On Wednesday morning, November 9, 2016, the Foundations and Bridge Academies met for a special Chapel to share and celebrate the mission projects completed by each grade.
Students in the Bridge Academy (grades 4-6) collected items such as puzzle books, pens, small food items, drinks and blankets to put together “Comfort Bags” to share with cancer patients in our area. Mrs. Legg shared what an encouragement it had been to receive a similar bag when she started cancer treatments this past summer.
Third grade classes packed twenty-five boxes for Operation Christmas Child. The students packed boxes filled with toys, school supplies and personal care items to bless children around the world who don’t typically receive Christmas presents. You can learn more about Operation Christmas Child here.
Second grade classes put together bags of food for children from Holland Elementary School to bless families in our own community that don’t have enough to eat. They gathered non-perishable food items and assembled over twenty-six bags of food. You can learn more about the Beach Bag food program here.
First grade classes collected shoes to donate to Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls. The students were able to collect thirty-eight pairs of shoes that will help provide health, education, hope and opportunity to children in the United States and around the world.
