Welcome to GCA Extended Care. My name is Ellen Renton and it is my honor to be the Director of the Extended Care program. In all that I do, I do it for the glory of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
In 2005, after sixteen years of experience in the public schools of Northern Virginia, God brought me to Greenbrier Christian Academy to work in the Extended Care program. I love my job and I am so thankful to be able to spend time with your wonderful children each day.
With the Word of God as our foundation, GCA Extended Care strives to be a warm, loving environment where children can laugh, play and feel loved. A place where parents know their children are safe. A place where Extended Care staff have lots of patience, tons of energy and an abundance of love. The greatest being an abundance of love.
God has blessed us with a fabulous Extended Care Staff that have a heart for children. Every day, before the students come to Extended Care, we have prayer time. Each day we pray for all the children in our care and the staff here at GCA. After a long hard day at school, it’s very important to allow the children to relax, laugh and enjoy their time with us. We start our day with a snack and devotion. Preschool, Kindergarten and First grade will have time to play games or make a craft. While Second through Fifth grade will use that time to do their homework. After that, if weather permits, we'll go out to the playground. We end our day with some inside free play time.
The afternoons go by very quickly and before you know it, it's time to go home. One of the biggest compliments we get is when we see a child (even though it's 5:30!) start to cry or make a face and say to their parent, "Why are you here so early?" That lets me know I'm doing my job!
In His Service,
